Eastbourne Borough Women are delighted to announce the signing of Claire Johnson.

Johnson, a former Welsh Under 17 international, joins the Sports having worked under boss Billy Wood at former club Hastings United.

The versatile player has previous experience with West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Lewes, before she joined Hastings United in 2021.

She was then made club captain at the Pilot Field, where she won Manager’s and Player’s Player of the Year awards in the 2021/22 campaign.

Wood said: “I am delighted that Claire is joining me at Eastbourne Borough. My captain at Hastings United and a player who will lead whether she wears an armband or not.

“She gives us versatility in a few positions and I know her experience will really help the talent in this squad shine.”
