Eastbourne Borough Women secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season after a thriller at Shoreham.
The Sports edged a seven-goal thriller at Middle Road to move up to move up to fifth in the Sussex County Women & Girls Premier League table.
Despite the tight scoreline, Borough were never behind after taking the lead through Charlotte Gurr ten minutes in.
However, the lead lasted all of a minute when the hosts drew level through Laura Huish.
But Billy Wood’s side regained their advantage moments later – Abbie Tucker firing home to put Borough 2-1 up.
That lead increased just before the half-hour mark when Becky Simmons scored her seventh goal of the campaign.
Alice Martin got Shoreham back into the game just before half-time as the Sports went into the break 3-2 to the good.
And it was 4-2 after the hour mark when Megan-Rose Griffiths struck her third goal in her second appearance having come up from the Development Squad.
But Borough still had defending to do, and when Martin’s second goal eight minutes from time made it 4-3, the Sports dug deep to see out a great win on the road.
The win demonstrates the progress being made under Wood – the Sports lost 9-0 to Shoreham when the teams met in the first game of the season – and they will be looking to progress in the League Cup this Sunday when they travel to Whitehawk.
