Eastbourne Borough continued their fight to avoid the drop after a great all-round performance saw them see off Chippenham Town at Priory Lane.

The Sports got the ball rolling inside two minutes. Sam Beard ran onto a ball over the top and he lifted the ball over Will Henry and into the far corner.

Yahya Bamba then released Finn Ballard McBride, who broke clear through on goal but saw his low ball across well cleared by Jem Hewlett before Matt Green could tap in.

Dan Ellison’s header was scrambled clear as Chippenham looked to get back into the game, but it was the Sports who nearly doubled their lead but the impressive Ballard McBride couldn’t get his shot away after neat link up play with Green.

And Borough did go 2-0 up before the break. Alfie Bendle floated a corner up to the far post and the towering Moussa Diarra saw his bullet header find the top corner despite the best efforts of the defender on the line.

Adam Murray’s side then added a third goal before the hour mark. Green helped on a throw in down the line and released Ballard McBride who burst through the defence, before unselfishly helping the ball across to Bamba who tapped in.

Ballard McBride continued to impress, and nearly got on the scoresheet himself in stoppage time but was denied by Henry.
