Eastbourne Borough Under 18s concluded their Isthmian Youth League South campaign with a well earned draw against third-place Burgess Hill Town.

The Sports got off to the perfect start at Homecall Carpets Stadium. Teddy Howard rode challenge after challenge having picked the ball up in the centre circle, and found himself inside the area before slotting beyond Elliot Dailly and into the far corner.

Burgess Hill had their chances, and were causing the Sports problems with their movement in midfield but it was Mostyn Price’s side who doubled their lead against the odds on the half hour mark.

Lincoln Shearing drove down the right and saw his shot parried away by Dailly but Jack Dalton reacted first at the far post to fire home despite the tight angle to make it 2-0.

However, the hosts fought back as Alex Brewer and then Taylor Edwards drew Burgess Hill level, before a deflected effort from Noah Hoffman saw them go into half-time in front.

Borough made changes to give everyone minutes in the final game of the season, and it brought with it an improved performance after the break.

Jonny Barnes-Galloway was causing problems for the Hillians back line, whilst Sam Sharma and Darrell Shaw were also pressing forwards.

Barnes-Galloway had an effort go narrowly over, before the Sports drew level with 72 minutes on the clock. Sharma whipped in a corner from the left and picked out the run of Jimmy Holman, who saw his thumping header go beyond the keeper.

Both teams had opportunities to win the game late on, but the points were shared.
