Eastbourne Borough will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend when they travel to Chesham United.

It’s the reverse fixture of the opening day of the season – a game which saw the teams share the points after a 1-1 draw at ReachTV Stadium.

Jayden Davis gave Borough the lead on the hour mark, but Nathan Minhas struck with three minutes to go to give Chesham a point in their first game at Step Two after promotion last season.

The Sports will be looking for a response, though, following their midweek defeat at Maidstone United.

George Alexander had drawn Borough level at Gallagher Stadium in the second half, but it was the Stones who would go on and show their clinical side in a 3-1 win.

The loss in Kent ended a run of three straight wins in all competitions, and the Sports know they will need to return to winning ways to maintain their push towards the top of the National League South standings.

The Opposition

Chesham United have enjoyed the first half of the season in the National League South, having won the Southern League Premier South last term.

They come into the game sitting tenth in the league standings with 27 points from their 16 league games to date.

It’s been away from The Meadow where the Buckinghamshire side have been particularly impressive, with just one defeat from their eight away games so far putting them second in the Away league table.

At home, they haven’t fared as well – with four wins and four defeats from their eight matches in front of their home crowd.

Tuesday night saw United edge a 2-1 win over Hampton & Richmond at The Meadow, despite going down to ten men early in the second half.

Brad Clayton gave the hosts a first half lead, but they were dealt a double blow when T’Sharne Gallimore was sent off and James Roberts converted the subsequent penalty on 51 minutes. But it was Chesham who found a winner – Minhas firing home with 74 minutes on the clock.
