Eastbourne Borough are excited to announce the signing of midfielder Josh Anifowose.

Josh, 20, is a young centre midfielder who began his football career in the youth ranks of Premier League Fulham, before moving to now EFL Championship side Oxford United at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.

Anifowose made his debut for the U’s at the age of 17 against Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy and also featured against Tottenham Hotspur U23 in the same competition with Oxford winning 3-2. After a loan spell to Isthmian South Central side Tooting & Mitcham, the midfielder departed Oxford United in 2022 and joined Dover Athletic.

The highly rated central midfielder featured heavily for Dover Athletic before being snapped up by Hampton & Richmond in December 2023. Josh went on to make 36 appearances throughout the 2023/24 season, scoring four times and assisting a further six. He joined Aveley in the summer, and has scored three goals from central midfield this season.

“He is a top young talent and I’m delighted he’s with us and cannot wait to get to work with him.”
