Eastbourne Borough travel to Slough Town looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in the National League South.
Games between the two teams have always been close recently, with tomorrow’s clash at Arbour Park expected to be no exception.
The Rebels have had a mixed campaign to date, sitting in twelfth spot – nine points off the play-off places – with an unbeaten run at Arbour Park going for just over a year until Hemel Hempstead won 1-0 there in September.
The Manager
36-year-old Scott Davies became first team manager on 23 November 2022 having taken on the role of caretaker manager the previous week, following the departure of Neil Baker and Jon Underwood.
Scott combines his management role with playing duties in either midfield or at the heart of the defence. He originally joined the Rebels in March 2018 to boost the squad in a packed end of season promotion run-in and has played a big part ever since.
He is a technically gifted midfield player with a habit of chipping in with a sensational goal from time to time, most notably twice from inside his own half with several others from free kicks.
Scott began his career as a professional at Reading and enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aldershot Town, where he won promotion to League Two. He also won the Conference National goal of the season award with his injury time goal against Torquay United. Scott went on to score 13 goals in 41 appearances in League Two for the Shots.
He played around 100 games in the Football League for Aldershot, Wycombe Wanderers and Crawley Town amongst others, and went on to make well over 100 appearances in National League South for Wealdstone, Oxford City and Chelmsford City.
Danger Man
Bulgarian striker Slavi Spasov joined the club from Hungerford Town in December 2023. The 21-year-old was born in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria and now lives in Slough, having moved to England at the age of 12.
Formerly with Oxford United’s academy, Slavi made his senior debut in an EFL Trophy match against Fulham in September 2018, coming on as a substitute and scoring a penalty to become the club’s youngest ever scorer at the age of 16 years and 226 days. He would go on to make his league debut three months later.
Slavi experienced loan spells with Woking, North Leigh and Banbury United before joining Hungerford Town in July 2023.
Last Time We Met
Eastbourne Borough were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Slough Town at The ReachTV Stadium after a hard-fought and entertaining match. Despite Pavey’s well-taken equaliser just before half-time, the Sports were unable to find the decisive second goal, with both teams creating numerous chances throughout the contest.
it was Slough who struck first in the 15th minute, with Gilbert getting a toe to a low cross from the byline, just beating Quick to the ball and sending it into the bottom corner. The visitors continued to press, but Borough gradually gained a foothold, with Alexander and Pavey combining beautifully to carve out a big chance in the 42nd minute.
Borough’s persistence paid off in first-half stoppage time when Sesay broke down the right, delivering a perfect ball across the box for Pavey to smash into the roof of the net. The goal gave Borough momentum heading into the second half, with the hosts continuing to press for a winner, but it just wouldn’t come.
