Eastbourne Borough will be looking to extend their unbeaten National League South run to ten games when they welcome Chelmsford City to The ReachTV Stadium.
For The Sports, it will be about turning draws into wins – and Adam Murray’s sid will be looking to maintain their unbeaten home record this season.
Borough’s draw away at Slough Town last weekend was a point gained when you reflect on it, with the Sports playing the last half an hour with ten men following Pierce Bird’s dismissal for two yellow cards.
However, it wasn’t one way traffic and Borough went close themselves despite the numerical disadvantage to win all three points at Arbour Park.
The goalless draw followed a fine win away at Tonbridge Angels eleven days ago. The drama started early in Kent, with Garrett Kelly seeing red for the hosts after just three minutes following an off-the-ball incident at a corner.
And the Sports took full advantage, with Kai Innocent giving Borough the lead at half-time before John Shamalo scored his first goal for the club to double the lead in the second half. Things then got worse for Angels, with Gianluca Botti shown a second yellow card inside the final twenty minutes.
Chelmsford City travel to the Sussex coast on the back of just one defeat in their last six – which has seen them move up to 13th in the table.
However, the Sports will be looking to make the most of Chelmsford’s indifferent away form – with City winning just one game on the road in their last ten in all competitions.
That success came on Boxing Day when Osman Foyo got the only goal of the game as Robbie Simpson’s side won 1-0 at Welling United.
Since then, they’ve lost 2-1 away at Enfield Town before a midweek draw at Chesham United.
The Clarets would have hoped to come away with maximum points after leading twice at The Meadow through Saleem Akanbi and a Jake Hyde penalty, only to be pegged back on both occasions – Matt Lench scoring a late penalty to make it 2-2 in Berkshire.
Having lost 4-2 at Melbourne Stadium back in October, the Sports will be out for revenge and get back to winning ways as the race for the top spot heats up in the National South.
