Fifth meets fourth in the National League South as Eastbourne Borough look to continue their fine home form against Truro City.

And just one point separate the two teams ahead of the game, with The Sports just three points off the top of the standings.

Truro come into the game in mixed form, however, with just two wins from the last six – including last time out when Andrew Neal’s late, late goal saw them beat Hornchurch 2-1 at the Truro City Stadium.

It’s been a case of the late, late show for Truro this season, with seven goals in stoppage time earning them twelve points – turning draws into wins, or defeats into draws.

Billy Palfrey’s strike in the third minute of added time saw them draw with Weston-super-Mare on Boxing Day, whilst Will Dean’s 94th minute effort saw them come from behind to win at St. Albans last month.

Ten of the 15 previous meetings between the two teams have had two goals or less – and another closely fought encounter is expected here in Sussex today.

Alfie Pavey got what proved to be the only goal of the game when the two teams met in September, with Borough taking all three points back from Cornwall.

And the Sports would take another 1-0 win again this afternoon I’m sure as they look to continue their impressive defensive record of late.

Adam Murray’s side have gone 415 minutes without conceding, and indeed Hornchurch’s goal on December 14th has been the only goal conceded in the last six league outings.

That includes the 1-0 win over St. Albans last weekend here at The ReachTV Stadium, where the Sports were guilty of not being at their best, yet still picked up all three points to continue their unbeaten home record this season.

Courtney Clarke scored his first goal for the club in a man of the match display as Borough picked up their first three points of the New Year.

With both teams looking for three points to aid their promotion bids, it promises to be a closely fought match this afternoon as Borough look to complete a league double over their Cornish visitors.
