It’s fourth vs third in the National League South on Saturday as Eastbourne Borough look to continue their good run of form at Dorking Wanderers.
With the promotion race hotting up with six games to go, only three points separate top of the table Worthing and Torquay United in fifth.
Both the Sports and Dorking find themselves within that threshold, with both teams knowing three points could be pivotal come the end of April.
The Manager
Marc White needs little introduction, having been a founder of the club in 1999 – going on to play for Wanderers before leading their rise from the Crawley & District League as Chairman and Manager – winning twelve promotions in their first 23 seasons, reaching the National League in 2022.
The club were still in the Sussex County League Third Division in 2010/11, but haven’t looked back ever since.
White then led the team to two promotions in three seasons as Wanderers breezed through the Isthmian League, making their debut in the National South in 2019/20.
They then reached the National League in 2022/23 after beating Ebbsfleet United, 3-2 after extra time, in the play-off final – only after Luke Moore’s 99th minute equaliser.
After suffering their first ever relegation last season, Wanderers will be pushing towards an immediate return to the top-flight of non-league football.
Highlights from Dorking at home
Key Player
Charlie Carter is a central midfielder who’s footballing journey began at Fulham and then across the county at Woking, where after coming through the club’s academy he signed a professional deal with The Cardinals ahead of the 2016/17 season.
It was the following campaign, 2017/18, which proved to be the breakout year for Charlie as he finished the season club top scorer, earning a move to Chesterfield and from there a transfer into the Football League with Stevenage. After three seasons at The Lamex Stadium, Charlie enjoyed a consistent season with Eastleigh in 20022/23, again demonstrating his ability as a goal-scoring midfielder by finishing the season with double-figures worth of goals.
Returning to his native Surrey, Charlie signed for Wanderers in October 2023. Charlie was named club captain ahead of the 2024/25 season.
