Chances were at a premium at Twerton Park as Eastbourne Borough left Bath City with a point after a goalless draw.
Courtney Clarke went closest for the Sports in the first half, and whilst Adam Murray’s side pressed for a winner late on, they failed to really test the Bath goalkeeper.
The point sees the Sports fall further behind Dorking Wanderers in the race for the National League South title.
Borough had one change to the eleven who started against Maidstone United in midweek, with Pierce Bird returning in place of David Sesay, who dropped to the bench.
It was Bath who had the first effort of the game – with Camron Gbadebo in the right place to head Luke Russe’s shot on target clear.
Borough looked to get up the pitch – Jason Adigun not quite getting enough on his header from Kai Innocent’s ball in to trouble Harvey Wiles-Richards.
There was then a lengthy pause as Brad Barry and Brad Ash clashed heads in the middle of the park – both returned to the pitch bandaged.
Kieran Parselle volleyed high and wide for Bath, before Borough went close with 38 minutes on the clock.
Barry found Clarke on the right hand side, and his strike across goal broke through the grasp of Wiles-Richards – but the Bath keeper recovered to scramble the ball away before it crossed the line.
Yahaya Bamba then broke down the left hand side just before the break, but after beating a defender pulled his shot just wide of the near post.
Borough made two changes at the break – with Barry and Adigun both withdrawn – and Murray’s men looked to adopt a more attacking approach.
However, they were almost caught out on 54 minutes. Scott Wilson controlled Ash’s ball in from the left before taking a shot on the turn, but the ball went just wide of the bottom corner from twelve yards.
The Sports continued to press, but without really testing Wiles-Richards. Both Moussa Diarra and Dom Odusanya had efforts blocked at a corner, before a last-ditch tackle denied George Alexander a sight of goal.
Joe Wright was then alert to save from Ash at his near post after Mitchel Beardmore got the ball in from the left, but as time wore on the Sports started to dominate the ball.
Substitute Josh Anifowose had an effort charged down on the edge of the area, before the Sports went close seven minutes from time. Clarke curled in a cross from the left and picked out sub Sesay at the far post, but he headed just over.
But it was Bath who would have the last opportunity as the game edged towards stoppage time. Elliott Frear led a counter-attack down the left hand side and his low ball in found substitute Jordan Alves, but his first time effort was straight at Wright.
A point extends Borough’s unbeaten run to four National League South games – but it wasn’t the three points they would have wanted.
