Four games in the Vanarama National League South season remain, and Eastbourne Borough continue to be in the thick of it at the top end of the table.

And they know they can’t afford any slip ups when they travel to St Albans City this afternoon.

The Sports sit fourth in the standings – two points off top spot with twelve points to play for in the next fortnight.

And whilst Adam Murray’s side maintain the best home record in the division, they will be looking to get things right on the road – where they have picked up twelve points from their nine away games this calendar year.

Last Time Out

A George Alexander hat-trick helped Eastbourne Borough bounce back to go fourth in the National League South standings with a 4-1 win over Weymouth.

Borough’s number 9 was spot on with a penalty with two poacher’s finishes completing his treble and taking him to 24 goals for the campaign.

That came after Yahaya Bamba had put the Sports in front after just five minutes at The ReachTV Stadium. Weymouth, to their credit, never gave up though – with Jake McCarthy’s deflected effort pulling a goal back before half-time.

But the Sports saw out the game in front of a 1382-strong crowd, and with results elsewhere, are firmly back in the mix for top spot in the National League South.

The Opposition

Having finished just five points outside the play-off places last season, it’s been a season for St Albans City to forget – and Ian Culverhouse’s side will be looking for three points themselves in their bid to escape the drop.

The Saints are three points off Enfield Town, and have shown they are a tough team to beat in recent weeks having lost just three of their last ten league fixtures.

That includes last weekend, when they held fellow title chasers Dorking Wanderers to a draw at Clarence Park. David Longe-King scored with four minutes to go to cancel out Wanderers’ first half opener in a 1-1 draw.

City have two wins and two draws from their last four games, with wins over Farnborough and Hampton & Richmond as they look to avoid relegation to Step Three.

Last Time We Met

Borough kicked off 2025 at The ReachTV Stadium with all three points against St. Albans City.

Courtney Clarke scored his first goal for the club to give Adam Murray’s side a 1-0 win in the National League South.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for The Sports, who weren’t at their best but nonetheless secured a fourth clean sheet in a row on their way to moving up to fourth in the table.
