Eastbourne Borough can announce that Alfie Pavey has terminated his contract by mutual consent to pursue opportunities outside of football.

The striker made a total of 40 appearances in 2024/25, scoring eight goals over all competitions, as the Sports narrowly missed out on the National League South crown.

“Alfie has always been a true professional, and whilst we are saddened that he has made the decision to leave, we must respect he has made this decision for his family and future,” said Chief Executive Alan Williams.

“We thank Alfie for all of his efforts in a Borough shirt, and he is welcome at The ReachTV Stadium anytime. Once a Sport, always a Sport.”

The 29-year-old was also Vice-Captain at The ReachTV Stadium and played his part both on and off the field as The Sports pushed for honours.

We wish Alfie all the best for the future and thank him for his hard work during his time at Eastbourne Borough.

Alfie has put this statement together to share:

Due to an opportunity that has risen outside of football I have decided to terminate my contract with Eastbourne Borough.

It was a decision that hasn’t been taken lightly and one that I have had a lot of thought about since the season finished, this is a personal decision and having a young family it’s something I couldn’t turn down to go and progress my coaching career further.

I leave with great pride having worn a Eastbourne shirt and hopefully one I represented with respect and give my all everytime I wore it.

I took great pride in leading the boys out on many occasions in Brads absence but a massive thank you to him for his guidance across the season.

Also, a massive thank you to my CEO (Alan Williams) & Owner (Simon Leslie) for allowing me to take the next step in my career a year early and not standing in my way & providing me and my team mates everything we needed throughout the season to try and succeed.

The club is in a fantastic place, down to those 2 running the club the way it is and it’s a matter of time before it strikes and achieves some amazing things.

Lastly thank you to the fans a real family club that made myself and my family welcome I will sorely miss Eastbourne and would love to return one day in a different aspect.

It’s been a pleasure. Good luck for the future.
