A new-look Eastbourne Borough side travel to Farnborough looking to get the new Enterprise National League South season underway with three points.

Only nine of last season’s squad remain at The Sports, with Matt Gray’s side improving every game throughout pre-season as the new team continue to gel.

After starting with defeats against Farnham Town, Dartford and Aldershot Town, the Sports were held by Kingstonian before beating Dulwich Hamlet on the road.

Positive signs were there again last weekend, but the Sports were held to a 2-2 draw by Hashtag United – and Gray knows his side will have to improve once again as the new campaign kicks off.

Farnborough have had a busy pre-season – with eight games played including against Southampton XI and a strong Portsmouth team.

After beating Charlton Athletic XI in their penultimate pre-season outing, they concluded their warm up for the new campaign with an impressive 2-1 win over Eastleigh.

Spencer Day looks to have recruited well – reuniting a Ebbsfleet United title winning duo from 2022/23 in Dominic Poleon and Rakish Bingham – the former also winning the National League South Player of the Season that year.

So it’ll be a much different test for the Sports than that which faced them back in March – with four second half goals seeing Borough win 4-0 at The ReachTV Stadium. However, it was Farnborough who came out on top on our last trip to Hampshire – winning 2-0 in August 2024.
