Eastbourne Borough are delighted to announce the signing of defender Harry Phipps from Sutton United.
The 27-year-old had previously spent seven years with Dagenham & Redbridge before joining the U’s in the summer, and becomes Tommy Widdrington’s second signing for The Sports.
Having started his career at Margate, Phipps impressed with a good run of form during the 2016/17 season – making his senior debut in a 4-1 defeat against Sutton – before joining Maidstone United ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
His time at the Gallagher Stadium, while brief, allowed him to gain a wealth of experience with loan spells at Welling United and East Thurrock United, before exiting with just ten appearances to his name as he opted to leave his home county of Kent behind for the first time at the age of 19.
Joining Dagenham ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, Phipps subsequently remained a Dagger for the next seven years, with the midfielder-turned-defender becoming an ever-present with his tenacity and tirelessness in midfield keeping his side ticking, and was rewarded with a contract extension just six months after joining.
Having spent his early career journeying around a number of clubs, Phipps established Victoria Road as his long-term home despite a couple of serious injuries at the start of his Daggers career, and racked up almost 150 appearances during an extended spell in East London.
Welcome to Eastbourne, Harry!
