After sealing his second win on the road in three games, Tommy Widdrington will now be looking to take that form back to Connect Management Stadium.

Eastbourne Borough welcome Dagenham & Redbridge for only Widdrington’s second home league game back in the dugout for The Sports.

There was plenty of encouragement to take from the first hour of our last home outing against Chesham United – with Freddie Carter heading home his third league goal of the campaign to put Borough deservedly in front at the break.

But the tide turned as the second half wore on, with Chesham’s substitutes having an impact as the visitors came from behind to steal all three points.

Borough then navigated their way through a tricky Sussex Senior Cup tie against Chichester last Tuesday night – eventually progressing on penalties after the teams drew 2-2 at 90 minutes.

Victor Akinwale took his chance well to score his first Borough goal, before Cam Gbadebo got his first goal of the season, with The Sports going on to win 4-2 in the shoot-out – Jamie Searle making two good saves.

That win sets up a Third Round tie with Haywards Heath Town later this month.

It’s a busy month ahead for The Sports – with nine games including Saturday’s win at Enfield.

Playing Saturday and then Tuesday and then Saturday again can be testing for any player, but to do that for the next four weeks will be a challenge to Widdrington’s side.

But they will be looking to carry momentum from the fully deserved win at Dave Bryant Stadium into tonight’s game against a Dagenham side who would have hoped for a better start to the campaign.

Under former Borough boss Lee Bradbury, the Daggers haven’t got off to the best of starts – with just 15 points from their 15 games to date.

That comes despite some marquee signings over the summer – with forward Andy Carroll a particular headline-grabber.

On the back of earning four points from their last two outings, the Daggers themselves will be looking to build a good run of form as they look to lift themselves up towards the top end of the table. It promises to be an exciting evening!
