Eastbourne Borough romped to their first home league win of the season in style as they hit Hampton & Richmond Borough for six.

Pemi Aderoju scored four, with Mo Sagaf and Jayden Davis also on target in a big win for Tommy Widdrington’s side at Connect Management Stadium.

It was the perfect response to last week’s setback at Torquay, and lifts the Sports off the foot of the Enterprise National League South standings.

The Sports were dominant from the off, but couldn’t turn chances into goals. Maxwell Mullins went close, before a corner was cleared as far as Anifowose, who drifted inside from the left but saw his strike tipped onto the bar by Matt Rowley.

But the breakthrough came just before the half hour mark when Harvey Lintott whipped in a great cross from the right and Pemi Aderoju planted his header beyond Rowley and in off the underside of the bar.

However, Hampton had half a chance to draw level just before the break – but Craig Fasanmade got his shot all wrong when space opened up inside the area.

After losing 7-0 at Torquay seven days ago, few could have predicted what the second half would bring for the hosts.

Aderoju was cool, calm and collected to slot away a second goal five minutes after the break, before the forward completed his hat-trick with a fine first-time finish after good work from Mullins.

The Peterborough loanee wasn’t done there – he hit the post with a thunderous effort before he added a fourth on 73 minutes, with Mullins again the provider.

It was then 5-0 with ten minutes to go as Sagaf scored his first goal for the Sports, slotting into the bottom corner from twelve yards out after good work from Anifowose down the right.

And Borough weren’t done there – as substitute Jayden Davis completed the scoring with the best of the lot – a 30-yard lob over Rowley on his return from injury following a swift break from a corner at the other end.

Harry Phipps, named captain by Widdrington, then headed Corbett’s free-kick against the bar as the Sports went close to adding a seventh, but overall it was an afternoon of celebration as Borough equalled their biggest ever win at Step Two in their history.
