Shiloh Remy insists there’s more to come after the Sports started the new National League South season with three points.

The winger supplied a fine cross which Billy Vigar headed in to give Borough a 1-0 win over Hampton & Richmond in front of a bumper crowd at Priory Lane.

And after featuring in last season’s National League South Team of the Season, the former QPR youngster believes there’s more to come from this ambitious Borough side.

“It’s most definitely the start,” he said. “There are many, many more goals and assists to come, it’s a long season so to start in the right way is a big plus.”

The Sports were guilty of missed chances, especially in the first half, and in the end were made to work hard to get the win over a hard-working Hampton side.

Remy added: “I feel that we should have killed the game sooner, be more clinical in front of goal – including me. But in the end getting the win is all that matters.

“Everyone played their part, from defence to attack. Defenders second half especially did really well when we needed them and it was important to seal the win.”

The opening day win marked the 22-year-old’s 50th appearance since joining the club, and he knows he can play his part in what he hopes to be a season to remember.

“I didn’t even know until after the game, but it’s a great achievement to make and I’m happy I can play my part for the team,” he said when asked about his landmark.

“It’s going to be a long season and we need to stick together throughout to get the success we all want, and I want to be a big part of it.”

Remy also spoke about the difference he’s seen over the summer. He is just one of four players who stayed on at Priory Lane as the club moved into full-time football.

“Being full time, the main difference is everything is more professional,” he explained.

“I think the amount of time we spend with each other reflects on the pitch in how we play. We play for each other and fight for each other. When the going got tough we stood up together.

“I can’t put a limit on what we can achieve together.”
