It was a weekend to savour for Eastbourne Borough, with wins spread across the board for both Senior & Youth sections.
The Men’s First Team secured a vital three points on Saturday for Adam Murray’s first win in charge.
Archie Procter’s first senior goal coupled with Siya Ligendza’s second goal in three games saw The Sports overcome Farnborough 2-1 at Priory Lane.
Buoyed on by another crowd in four figures, the atmosphere was buzzing throughout and it was great to hear the almighty cheer at the full-time whistle.
This was followed up on Sunday by our Women’s First Team, who made it seven wins in a row in dramatic style.
Backs were certainly against the wall for Billy Wood’s side as they slipped to go 4-1 down away at Pagham. However, the girls dug deep and turned the game around to perverse their fantastic record of late.
Abbie Tucker, Megan Griffiths and a hat-trick from Charlotte Gurr saw them win 5-4 and move up to second in the SCWGFL Premier.
After suffering a set-back last weekend, our Women’s Development Squad bounced back to return to winning ways.
The girls beat Ringmer 4-2 at Priory Lane to move up to Fourth in SCWGFL Division One – and with four games in hand on those teams above them they will be looking at challenging for top spot in the coming weeks.
Towards the top end in our Youth Section, there was cup joy for both our Boys Under 16s teams.
Our Youth Red team booked their place in the Final of the Mid-Sussex Youth League Cup with a resounding 7-0 win over AFC Varndeanians, whilst the Youth White team have reached the League Plate Final with a 4-2 win over Patcham United.
The Girls Under 16 Red team bounced back from their cup defeat last weekend to win 7-4 away at Mile Oak Girls, with Phoebe Michie scoring a hat-trick to keep the team in the hunt for top spot in the SCWGFL Under 16 Premier.
Our Boys Under 15 team were given a walkover victory in the Sussex Sunday Youth League, whilst the Under 14 Red team continue to top the league table after a 5-1 win away at Hove Rivervale.
There was also cup joy for our Girls Under 15 team, who have reached the semi-finals of their League Cup after a resounding 5-0 win at Horsham Sparrows.
