Our match versus Maidstone Utd on Good Friday saw volunteers from ‘Friends of Eastbourne Hospital’ visit Priory Lane for the afternoon, as part of our partnership with our local NHS.
Fundraising & Publicity Manager Amy Williams and her team were busy collecting donations from fans who attended the game, including running an Easter Tombola that gave people the chance to win prizes such as signed footballs from our first team squad.
In addition to their fundraising efforts we were delighted to offer the opportunity of being match day mascots, flag wavers and half time players to the children of our local NHS staff who clearly loved their afternoon of football fun!
Amy said: “The Friends are delighted to be supported by Eastbourne Borough Football Club and to be strengthening essential community ties accordingly.
“We see the work that both the Friends and the Sports do as being at the heart of Eastbourne’s community and we are very excited about the mutual support that we are able to give each other.”
Eastbourne Borough FC Community Manager Tim Brown was equally pleased to be supporting the town with the help of Friends of Eastbourne Hospital. He said: “Our partnership has gone from strength to strength this season in how we are both working together to support those who most need it in our local community.
“Our hospital visits at Christmas, holding fundraising functions here at the club and this recent fundraising afternoon here on a match day are further examples of how Eastbourne Borough Football Club is using football as a force for good in our town, and so long may our partnership with Amy and her team continue.”
