Five games to go in the National League South – and Eastbourne Borough will be determined to take maximum points from their remaining fixtures.

To do that, they will need to bounce back, however, following a frustrating defeat at fellow title challengers Dorking Wanderers last time out.

Jimmy Muitt had put Dorking in front early on at Meadowbank – before the hosts went down to ten men after George Francomb saw red.

But despite that, the Sports couldn’t make their numerical advantage count, and it was Dorking who doubled their lead in first half stoppage time through a Jason Prior penalty.

Borough were better after the break, and Courtney Clarke’s superb strike halved the deficit eight minutes into the second half.

However, Brennan Camp bundled home late on to condemn Borough to only their third National League South defeat in the last 22 outings.

Results elsewhere means that the title picture is still unclear as ever, with just five points separating Worthing at the top to the Sports in fifth – with our Sussex neighbours facing second place Truro City this afternoon..

Torquay United and Dorking are also level on points with Truro in the chasing pack two points in front of the Sports, whilst Maidstone and Boreham Wood complete the top seven.

Borough will be looking for home comforts, though – with their unbeaten record here at The ReachTV Stadium surpassing the calendar year mark following the 4-0 thrashing of Farnborough a fortnight ago.

March 29th 2024 was the last time the Sports tasted defeat here at The ReachTV Stadium – in that ridiculous game against Maidstone United – and they will be looking to extend that run this afternoon.

Weymouth, though, will be no pushovers. Despite being twelve points from safety with 15 left to play for, the Terras sit ninth in the form guide over the last eight games – including an impressive 4-0 rout of Slough Town at Bob Lucas Stadium last weekend.

There are no easy games at this level, and the Sports will need their home support once again to get behind them this afternoon.
