Eastbourne Borough’s penultimate National League South fixture takes them to Salisbury, knowing that three points will keep them in with a shot of the title.
A 1-1 draw on Good Friday against league leaders Worthing means that just two points separate the top five, with Borough occupying fifth spot.
And whilst all Borough can do is focus on themselves, they will need to rely on results elsewhere to move up the standings.
Last Time Out
Nothing could separate Eastbourne Borough and Worthing as the two title-chasers shared the points at The ReachTV Stadium.
In front of a league record crowd of 3,622 in East Sussex, it was the visitors who drew first blood when Glen Rea fired home ten minutes before the break – despite Aaran Racine seeing red for violent conduct.
The Sports needed to make their numerical advantage pay, and they drew back level through Alfie Pavey on 56 minutes.
But despite dominating possession, Borough couldn’t find a way past Lucas Covolan and had to settle for a point.
The Opposition
Salisbury go into today’s contest needing three points themselves as they look to secure their Step Two status for a second season.
After winning the Southern League Premier South Play-Off Final last term on penalties, Brian Dutton’s side go into the game three points clear of the bottom four, with only St Albans City able to catch the Whites.
However, they can secure safety this afternoon with a win or draw should St Albans lose against Hemel Hempstead.
Whites go into the game on the back of three defeats in their last five, including a 2-0 loss to relegated Aveley in their last home match – before fighting back from two goals down at Weymouth on Good Friday to earn a point. Ronan Silva halved the deficit before Josh Sommerton’s late effort made it 2-2 in Dorset.
Last Time We Met
It was a case of déjà vu for Eastbourne Borough as they were made to settle for a point at The ReachTV Stadium on Boxing Day.
Borough were on top throughout, and had the best of the chances against Salisbury but some fine stops from Dan Lincoln denied the hosts a deserved breakthrough.

However, the point preserved the Sports’ unbeaten home league record, but left them outside the top seven on goal difference as we reached the halfway mark of the National League South season.
