Eastbourne Borough Under 18s concluded their 2024/45 season with a 2-0 loss at Whitehawk in the Isthmian Youth League South.
The young Sports started on the front foot, shooting down the slope at The Enclosed Ground. Benji Cordoner had a strike from long range dip just over early on, before Jack May met a corner from the left, but only to see his header come back off the bar after five minutes.
However, two goals in three minutes put Whitehawk in charge. Taylor Myles-Watkins made a good initial save to deny Mo Khedidji but couldn’t stop Nye Sim on the follow up to put the hosts in front.
And things go worse within the next two minutes when Adrian Nsue-Sha broke down the left-hand side and fired a low ball across to Callum Erskine who tapped in.
After that early flurry, the Sports looked for a way back into the game, but failed to create a clear cut chance – with the offside flag denying them on more than one occasion.
Shooting up the slope in the second half, the Sports looked to get forwards, with Theo Coleman-Standen firing high and wide from a good position after good work from Lucas Foden, before substitute Theo Coombs shot just over from outside the area.
Dash Callen-Dickens then broke down the right well, before pulling the ball across to Michael Ivakhnik, but his drive was well saved by the Whitehawk keeper.
With ten minutes to go, Whitehawk nearly added a third when Sim broke forwards, but fired just wide from the edge of the area.
Borough went close again late on, as Foden whipped a ball in from the left and picked out Toby Whiteside, who in his role as a makeshift striker couldn’t get enough on his header to really test the home keeper.
