Eastbourne Borough will be looking to carry momentum from last weekend’s performance when they travel to Dorking Wanderers this afternoon.

The Sports picked up their first home league win in emphatic style seven days ago as they hit Hampton & Richmond for six.

It was the response Tommy Widdrington would have wanted following the 7-0 loss at Torquay United a week before, and the Borough boss will be hoping of more of the same as we make the trip to Meadowbank for the second time in three weeks.

On that occasion, it was Dorking who prevailed – but only just – to progress to the Third Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

The Sports had taken the lead after just six minutes when Kai Corbett hit a great strike into the bottom corner from outside the area.

But the hosts would fight back to go in front at the break – Jimmy Muitt and Dennon Lewis turning the tie around before Josh Taylor added a third goal within a minute of the restart.

Despite the set-back, Borough would then go and dominate possession and created numerous chances before Victor Akinwale set up a nervy finale with ten minutes to go – but Dorking held on to win 3-2.

Dorking have enjoyed mixed results – winning one and losing one of the two league fixtures since that Trophy tie.

The Wanderers continued their great home record with a 3-1 win over Maidstone United. Muitt and Lewis were on the scoresheet again, with Jason Prior firing home a penalty.

That means that Marc White’s side are unbeaten at home in the National South side their first home game of the season, when they lost 3-0 to Hampton & Richmond.

Only Aldershot – led by Widdrington at that time – have beaten Dorking at Meadowbank since August 16th, with a 3-2 win in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

But the hosts go into today’s game looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Chesham United last weekend.

Goals from Alex Babos and Jaiden Bartolo put Chesham two goals up at The Meadow – with Jose Marquez’s late effort proving to be a consolation.
